Connections import data from the services you use. Open Settings → Connections to authenticate, choose resources, and sync them to the current backend.

Supported services

The Socket connection supplies dependency guards instead of ordinary task context.

Connect and sync

1

Authenticate

Choose the service in Connections and complete its credential form or sign-in flow.
2

Select resources

Search the available repositories, teams, projects, or boards. Save the resources you want Mains to import.
3

Refresh the data

Use Sync for an immediate refresh. Enable Auto Sync in the provider’s management view for recurring refreshes.
4

Use the context

Browse Tasks, scope resources to a project, or attach an item through the composer’s @ menu.
Selecting a resource controls what Mains imports. It does not reduce the underlying token’s permissions at the service.

Synced data and live reviews

Imported issues and summaries are local snapshots. They can be stale until the next sync. The GitHub Pull requests tab in Tasks uses live GitHub queries for its inbox and review interface. Synced PR summaries do not provide the same checks, threads, and diff workflow. GitLab merge request summaries do not enable the GitHub review interface.

Credentials and backends

A connection belongs to the backend where you configure it. A remote backend uses its own connection state. Service connections, agent sign-in, and Git CLI authentication are separate. For example, connecting GitHub does not sign in Copilot or run gh auth login. See Privacy for storage and data flow.

Disconnect

Open the service’s management view and choose Revoke Access. Confirm after reviewing the dialog. This deactivates the local connection and removes its selected resources and imported records. Invalidate the token in the service’s own settings if you also want to revoke it there.
